After junky conditions for the last couple days, this morning was pretty epic. I don't know if the surf was real good anywhere, but it sure was beautiful. The swell was just starting to show. The waves were 6-10 ft with some wash through forerunners of the new swell which washed out most of the Northshore this evening. The SW winds were back this evening so we will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Pipe was a little better than it has been this morning, but there was a lot of water moving around and still plenty of backwash. The boogies were getting spit out of a couple pits, but there were just a handful of surfers struggling to deal with it, about 10-12 guys total when I left around 9am. By this evening there was nobody out, all the sand was gone and lifeguards put the yellow tape all the way up to beach park. Waimea was breaking. I waited a while and did not see any big ones, but someone told me there was a pretty solid set. The East Side was epic with perfect offshore conditions and plenty swell getting in there. Don't know what the winds or waves will be doing tomorrow, its kindof one of those just wait and see weeks.
Nice to get an early start to the season. Any swells we get after this will be a lot better now that all these spots have had a good washing. Whooohooo!
