First Swell of Winter!
By Lane
Happy New Year, the Northshore Surf Season is finally underway! This morning the waves started out in the 6-8 foot range and peaked around mid morning with some solid 10 footers. The conditions were wild and washy as is pretty typical for the first swell, but with the strong winds and rain it was particularly challenging. Surfers were stoaked to get out there and get a taste of it despite the conditions. It seemed like the whole world showed up at Sunset Beach, Pipeline was uncrowded due to the warbly waves and uncooperative NNW direction of the swell however the bodyboarders and a few surfers were having a dig at it. By this evening it seemed like the swell was backing down a bit, but there were still some solid sets so it should last through tomorrow morning. Town has been happening too!
The last couple days in town were considered by some to be the best swell we had since the 4th of July. Looks like waves are going to keep on coming for both the North and South shores all week.
